The Elgato 3D configurator is a browser based advertising tool that is extendable. It helps customers to get familiar with the Elgato product range and see the benefits of the ecosystem. The system is scalable and can be easily enhanced through new features and products of Elgato.

Customers can launch the configurator via the Elgato Website and are able to create their dream setup. The tool is based on the game engine Unity and optimized to use on any browser.

To understand the target group's specific needs, we went straight into prototyping and experienced the journey firsthand. By using various prototyping methods we were able to create and evaluate different approaches of our pre-gathered research.

Users can choose between a desktop and laptop setup as a base. The configurators also offer the possibility to switch between a dark and bright theme to match different environments. Those setups represent classic gamer and creator environments how creators or gamers set up their rooms.

Starting with a vision for the configurator, we defined the functions and mechanics as a foundation. Based on that, the 3D configurator got designed to be scale-able to incorporate all future products and services of Elgato and be adaptable to future requirements.

Each product can be placed and manipulated individually by the user. The configurator enables users to play around and to build their personal dream setup. Each 3D file needed to be organized as a interactive object to enable those functions.

The aim for the configurator was to create a browser based advertisement tool that can be launched by anyone who sits in front of a PC. We dived into Unity to explore the capabilities first bevor setting up the final experience. Every product sold by Elgato got converted into a low polygon file to keep the file size of the configurator as low as possible. Afterwards all 3D assets got setup with a useable UV mesh to create an on spot result in Unity.
