The set-top box designed together with SMAL and in concert with Broadcom, Cisco and Sagemcom, provided an essential basis for all future developments to be offered within Vodafone and daughter company Kabel Deutschland when it comes to TV receivers.

More and more high-tech products find their way into each and every living room. Their aesthetics are often so disappointing meaning they are automatically degraded to a position hidden behind furniture.

The Vodafone TV Center combines a technically advanced set-top box,  an attractive design and proportions. Particularly striking is the black matte outer shell, an aspect which was designed to fit into contemporary living rooms. In addition, the box is smaller than ever before and comes with an all new remote control unit that fits the design language with a simple and approachable form factor. A lot of emphasis was placed in creating an ergonomic piece with a clear information hierarchy and dedicated button areas. Distinct texture differences between buttons and housing provide visual and haptic clarity, which helps to ensure precise navigation even in a dark environment.

However, looks are not all. Noteworthy is that this particular set-top box designed to be the first 4k-capable hardware system offering high-resolution video content on demand. The Media Center allows users to capture content from tablet or mobile phone and project it on their TV.

Small of size, but big in results: the Vodafone TV Center has been awarded with the Red Dot Award ‘Product Design 2015’ for its impressive appearance.
